Santa Monica I

Spent a gorgeous day in Santa Monica by renting a bicycle...
Santa Monica is surrounded on three sides by the city of Los AngelesPacific Palisades on the northwest, Brentwood on the north, West Los Angeles on the northeast, Mar Vista on the east, and Venice on the southeast.
Santa Monica is named for Saint Monica of Hippo because the area on which the city is now located was first visited by Spaniards on her feast day. In the skateboard and surfing communities, Santa Monica's Ocean Park neighborhood (and the neighboring section of Venice) is referred to as Dogtown. Why T F Dogtown though is a enigma.
Beauty does not mean straight and flawless - sometimes it is the exact opposite.

Ela ela!

Yay - got some millions - get a house in this row...

The Santa Monica Hippodrome (carousel) is a National Historic Landmark. It sits on the Santa Monica Pier, which was built in 1909. The La Monica Ballroom on the pier was once the largest ballroom in the US, and the source for many New Year's Eve national network broadcasts.

Yay - let's go beach!

Usually I do not go for high rises but in this case...

No coconuts though ;(

Kinda wrong style for the area but still would not mind lodging there...

Apparently Britney Spears owns the fourth floor and Anthony Hopkins the penthouse
- not that I care though ;)
