Santa Monica III

So I rented a bicycle at a lovely little place called Sea mist from a tanned guy with sky blue eyes who might have been a kiwi... and went to explore the place.

Muscle Beach
Popular gymnastic and acrobatic exhibitions were routinely held there on city-provided equipment. However, in the late fifties, the crowds of spectators reportedly got too big for the City to deal with, and it wanted to turn the space into parking lots. It was also rumored that the owners of the Ocean Park Pier were upset that the free shows were drawing their paying customers away from the Pier, and the owners of the Surf Rider Hotel found the entire scene offensive. Outcry over an alleged rape (bodybuilders were caught partying with underage girls) near the site led the city to shut it down in 1959, and re-open in 1960 without the tumbling platform.

Crescent Bay Park

Hotel California - a branch only though
Hotel California is an album released by the American rock band the Eagles in late 1976.
